Debby Phelps received a Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree in Sculpture from the University of Colorado at Boulder in 1970. In 1995 she completed her Master of Arts in Transpersonal Psychology and Art Therapy from the Naropa University. She has studied under Lynn Wolfe, a sculptor and painter, in Boulder, Colorado. In the summer of 1969, Debby received a scholarship to the Sam's Knob School of Art in Snowmass, Colorado. She has also studied art at Western State College.
In 2004 and in 2006, Debby has had one-man shows at the Gunnison Arts Center
Debby has worked as an art therapist at the Mental Health Corporation of Denver and at the Montrose Memorial Hospital. Debby volunteered her time to do in-service art therapy groups for hospice. She is retired from private practice.
